Normally, Evan went through people at an embarrassing rate. Bast had even warned him that if he kept this up, he would work his way through the whole school by Christmas. But this one was different. He couldn't explain why she was different- no, special- but he knew she was. For the first time, he couldn't imagine being bored of her within a week.

"What are you looking at?" She'd looked up from her essay and caught him staring.

Again.

But for some reason, he didn't feel the need to answer flippantly or even lie this time. "You," he said simply, and the answering blush was all he needed.
